Katy Harris is a social/behavioral therapist from the UK. She has a wide knowledge of learning disabilities and a variety of counseling methodology to help children manage difficulties in school, socially, emotionally and cognitively.
She coaches children to see and understand their feelings and learn new ways of thinking and operating which alleviates the problems they experience. She aims to improve their relationships with teachers, peers and family. Her work with school issues includes areas such as social skills training, impulsivity control, self organization, assertiveness training for the victims of bullying, anger and anxiety management.
She also works closely with parents to guide them in their support of their child’s learning differences and through challenges such as sibling rivalry, adoption issues, conflict management, grief, loss and divorce. She creates a safe space for emotional release, therapeutic listening and self awareness and generates solution focused strategies and behavior modification programs.
Katy visits schools and listens to teacher’s concerns and offers guidance as appropriate. She gives talks about various learning disabilities and improving social and emotional coping. She also sees parents without their children to offer emotional support when families become strained in order to develop new pathways to harmony.
