Kaleidoscope is offering a new program for children who wish to learn touch typing skills. It is aimed at children who are struggling with handwriting as a possible alternative mode of recording written work. Our experience of working with children who have significant handwriting challenges indicates that often these children continue to be disadvantaged throughout their educational life and many require time extensions and/or a scribe (someone who writes for them) during exams to compensate for this.
For children with handwriting challenges due to physical difficulties (poor hand strength, awkward pencil grasp etc) typing can be a challenging skill to master and may require a lot more practice than that required for a child with good motor skills. Therefore, learning in a group can be a less tedious and more enjoyable way to start.
Length of program: 6 weeks
Duration: 1 hour
Cost: S$350 per child. (Inclusive of the typing program)
The group is run by occupational therapists. Parents will receive a summary of the program and a goals sheet.
