Kaleidoscope Young Learners is a unique therapeutic and developmentally based program for young children with special needs. It is based on the DIR Floortime approach pioneered by Dr Stanley Greenspan and Serene Wieder and is geared towards each child's individual differences. The program focuses on building strong foundations for learning relating to a child's emotional capacities, individual differences and their ability to relate to others. It places an emphasis on nurturing interactions, supporting the child's sensory processing needs and communication skills.
Children from 3.5 to 6 years old who have developmental delays, difficulties in relating and communicating skills (including PDD and ASD) and children with sensory processing difficulties will benefit. The child needs to be ready to interact in a group setting and be free of severe behavioral or self-regulation problems. A two-week trial is offered to ensure that the child will benefit from the program. We accept a maximum of 6 children into each group. The ratio will be 1 adult to 3 children.
The staff involved in this program includes an experienced special education teacher, an occupational therapist, a speech and language therapist and a teacher assistant. Both the teacher and the therapists participate in the intake assessment process.
