Caroline Essame

My name is Caroline and I am a British Trained Occupational Therapist and Creative Arts Therapist with a  Masters in Education specialising in play based learning.

I started my career in the early 1980's in the UK working with children with special needs and have since then worked in adult psychiatry in the UK and Malaysia, elderly services, physical disability and drug and alcohol services. Then since having my own children I have rediscovered the joys of early childhood and for the past 20 years have worked in the early childhood field and with children with additional needs.

I support and train at a special school in rural India and also developed the first ever Creative Arts and Play Centre for children with autism in Malaysia in 2012.

I came to Singapore 15 years ago and have been involved in setting up the first Masters in Art Therapy at LASALLE, worked at various special schools and children's home and now am delighted to be back with the Kaleidoscope team again after a break of 7 years. I also train for the Social Service Institute on various therapy approaches and am a trained Clinical Supervisor.

I am a passionate advocate of the role of with creativity for social and emotional learning and combining this with sensory and physical learning. I have a basic certificate in DIR Floortime, am a trained Neuro-Dramatic Play practitioner, and really enjoy working with young children and their families to ensure that every child gets the best chance to reach their unique potential.
