Freda Sutanto

Hi I'm Freda. I'm an educational and developmental psychologist registered with the Singapore Register of Psychologists.

I began providing assessment and intervention services in 2008 and have since worked in the pediatric hospital, school, and private practice settings. My professional areas of interest are cognitive and learning difficulties (e.g. dyslexia), internalizing issues (e.g. anxiety), and social-emotional intervention. I am well versed in the diagnosis and management of developmental conditions, including autism spectrum disorder and ADHD.

To complement clinic-based work, I conduct workshops and provide consultancy services, such as training teachers on behavior management in the classroom. I am excited about my current project, authoring and publishing a series of books aimed at building social-emotional competence in children.

Prior to commencing tertiary studies in Australia, I attended both local and international schools in Singapore and am thus familiar with both systems and educational approaches.

I absolutely enjoy living and working in Singapore where we have the opportunity to constantly mingle with people from various cultures. My experience with diversity has contributed to the firm belief in seeing each child for his or her unique strengths and circumstances.

Years of working with children have taught me that engagement and understanding is key to achieving therapeutic gains. In session, I try to use creative and fun ways to build rapport with children. I also appreciate that community collaboration is key to positive outcomes. Therefore, I aim to foster a supportive and inclusive environment in my sessions, where I work together with the child, caregivers, and other professionals to set goals and help the child.

I look forward to meeting with you and your family!
